THE IDEAL TIME OF YEAR?
With an average annual temperature 16°C and only 70 days of rain per year, Terre di Siena is the perfect destination for cycling at any time of year. If you want to enjoy the landscape in all its glory, however, we recommend visiting in spring, summer and autumn.
CYCLE SAFETY
The Italian Highway Code applies on both the tarmac roads and the wonderful unsurfaced ‘strade bianche’ of the Terra Eroica. Always check the amount of ascent and the length of each stage (if you are riding as a family, avoid routes which are more than 20 km long) and follow the common sense rules listed below.

A rain proof jacket is ideal any time of year. In hotter months, combine it with lightweight clothing; at colder times of the year, wear thermal clothes and gloves. Always remember to take plenty of water with you, a few snacks to help you on the climbs and of course not forgetting plenty of enthusiasm!
